Welcome to the Holler and a Half FAQ!
We know homesteading and life in general comes with a lot of questions. Whether you’re curious about our journey, our farm life, or just wondering if chickens really have personalities spoiler: they do!, we’ve got answers. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, drop us a line—we love hearing from you!
What is Holler and a Half?
Holler and a Half is our 5-acre homestead where we blend storytelling, farming, and food into a self-sufficient lifestyle. We share our experiences—successes and stumbles alike—as we raise animals, grow food, and create a home full of love, good eats, and a little bit of chaos.
Where are you located?
Our homestead is nestled in Tennessee, where we get to experience all four seasons and the occasional surprise storm.
How did you end up homesteading?
Life took us on a wild ride—from film sets and restaurant kitchens to the open road and eventually to a farm we bought sight unseen. We wanted a place to raise our daughter, grow our own food, and live life on our own terms.
What animals do you have on the farm?
We currently have two horses (Jonesy and Chuckie), a miniature pony (Play-Doh), a growing flock of chickens, a couple of mischievous ducks, our dogs (Ernie and Grace), and a barn cat named Salem. It’s a full house, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
Do you sell farm products?
Not yet, but we have big dreams! We’re working on expanding our garden and might offer farm-fresh goodies in the future. Stay tuned!
Can I visit the farm?
Right now, we’re keeping things private while we get settled, but we love sharing our journey online. Who knows—maybe one day, we’ll host farm tours or workshops!
Do you have any homesteading advice for beginners?
Start small and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. You don’t need a ton of land to grow your own food or raise animals. A backyard garden or a few chickens can be a great first step!
How can I support your journey?
The best way to support us is to follow along, share our content, and engage with us! If we launch a farm shop or other projects in the future, we’ll be sure to let you know.
